Often, by adulthood we are juggling many obligations to others in our professional and personal lives. Therapy provides an opportunity to make time to give yourself the care and attention you deserve. I have experience working with adults navigating the transition from adolescence to early adulthood, as well as older adults facing end of life issues (and everyone in between!) and feel privileged to be able to participate in your mental health journey regardless of what stage of life you’re in.

Adolescence is often a life stage marked with highs and lows. As a parent, it can be extremely challenging to see your child in distress, and even the best parent cannot always prevent their child from experiencing trauma or emotional pain. Therapy can provide a safe space for your teen to process the various hurdles life may throw at them in order to support them in living up to their full potential. By adulthood, most of us can remember the supportive non-relative adults that made a difference for us—I would be honored to be that person for your teen.

Romantic relationships can be both incredibly fulfilling and incredibly challenging—especially for those of us who have not been given a roadmap or positive model of a relationship that looks like ours. From therapists to self-help books to well-intentioned friends, many sources of relationship support and advice are provided by and for cisgender, heterosexual individuals. I am passionate about providing therapy for people whose relationship may not have been modeled for us when we were younger.

As therapists, we all have limits to our scope of competence. While we can’t be the perfect therapist for every client, consultation can be incredibly valuable to enhance your already strong therapeutic relationships. If you are a therapist looking for support for your work with clients who suffer from substance abuse, self-harm, or eating disorders OR you’re looking to enhance your cultural competence with Hispanic and/or LGBT+ clients and are not part of those communities yourself, I am available for either one-time or as-needed consultation.

“To be fear-facing is to learn the distinction between fear and danger. It is to look directly at the source of the fear and assess if we are truly in peril or if we are simply afraid of the unknown.”
